I love when I spend time with patients, talking about the connection between oral health and overall well-being, educating them about how to care for their mouth between visits, and I see that I’ve reached them with the essential information. When they come in for their next visit, and the changes they’ve made are obvious, I cannot help but smile. I know they’re on the path to a better life, because they’re taking better care of themselves! My days are spent caring for patients, whether I am taking dental X-rays or cleaning their teeth. But my focus is always on patient education and helping each person learn to make good decisions and establish healthy habits for a lifetime of beautiful smiles.
It is an incredibly rewarding experience to help our patients with their dental needs. Dental health is so important to each person’s life, and when we can help patients improve their oral cavity, and develop a healthy and beautiful smile, they not only have a healthier body, but they feel better about themselves and smile more. At our office, I schedule and confirm appointments, collect payments, and take care of the billing. I also help our patients get the most from their dental insurance benefits, and verify eligibility on their behalf. When I see the relief on a patient’s face, when they realize that they’ll be receiving excellent dental care and that they can afford it, no matter what their budget, I know I’ve made the person’s life better. That’s a great feeling.
My workday is focused on assisting Dr. Margariti while she cares for our patients. I am there to make sure she has everything she needs during a procedure, but I’m always concentrating on the patient, talking with them about what the doctor is doing, providing encouragement and reassurance, and making sure that they are comfortable. I also sterilize our instruments and equipment, set up our treatment rooms and stock them with all necessary supplies, and take X-rays. I love that we offer painless, gentle dental care that makes a patient feel good about him- or herself, and healthier, too. When a patient is smiling as they leave, because we’ve provided them with a great visit, I know we’ve done a good day’s work.
